OpenAI led an effort over the past two months to fix “one of the most impactful security issues in recent memory,” the company said in a Wednesday (Oct. 21) blog post. The targets of this effort were critical vulnerabilities in PHP, an open-source programming language that is used to run websites and web applications, according to the post. The vulnerabilities were discovered and reported independently by Calif and Wiz, and then PHP’s maintainers, supported by OpenAI, Wiz, Cloudflare and others, prepared protections before disclosing the vulnerabilities, the post said. Organizations that use PHP are now applying the fixes, per the post. Please add us to your preferred sources list so our news, data and interviews show up in your feed. Thanks!
