Write for OpenAI Daily News

Most of this paper is a digest of other people's reporting. The Contributors section is the exception: original work by readers who use these models, build on them, study them or watch the company closely. It costs nothing to submit, and nothing to be published.

What we publish

  • Things you found out yourself. A test you ran, a cost you measured, a change in a release that nobody wrote up, a failure and what fixed it.
  • With the evidence attached. Link the documentation, the release notes, the paper, your code and your figures. A reader should be able to check you.
  • Argument, if it is argued. Opinion is welcome when it rests on something a reader can examine.
  • In your own words. You may use a model to check a draft. The reporting, the testing and the conclusions must be yours, and the piece must not have run anywhere else.

Two forms

  • An essay is reporting, analysis or a full account of something you built. 250 words at the least; the better ones run from 600 to 1,200.
  • A notebook entry is shorter and more personal: one observation, one experiment, one opinion. 150 words at the least.

What we decline

  • Promotion of a product, affiliate links, and lists of “the ten best” anything. For that there is advertising.
  • Jailbreak prompts, ways round usage limits, or anything else that breaks OpenAI's usage policies.
  • Leaked private material, personal attacks, and accusations that are not supported.
  • Text a model wrote and nobody checked.

What happens to a submission

  1. You open a free account and write in our editor, which keeps your draft as you type.
  2. An editor reads it, as a rule within two working days.
  3. It is published, or returned with a note. A returned piece can be revised and sent again from your account page.

A published piece carries your name. We may tighten the wording and change the headline. We will not alter your argument without asking you.
