Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT ship new models every week, and I finally stopped chasing every new release

Every new model drop used to feel like a whole event. People would clear their entire afternoon to test it out on new tasks and builds, then spend the rest of the week arguing online whether it was actually better than the last one. The ritual hasn't really changed, but the thing is that it happens all the time now. OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google seem to drop something new every single week now, and keeping up with it all has started to feel more like homework than a fun side thing. Every launch also brings with it a fresh round of benchmark charts, and with this comes this inkling that whatever you're using now isn't good enough anymore and that upgrading isn't optional.
