OpenAI has reportedly lowered its valuation target to $1.25 trillion from $1.4 trillion after some investors expressed reservations about the higher price. The ChatGPT developer is working to raise $30 billion in fresh capital as it prepares for a potential initial public offering (IPO) in 2027. Despite the reduction, the revised target would value OpenAI at nearly 50 per cent above its current valuation of $852 billion. The fundraising comes at a crucial time for OpenAI, which needs substantial financial resources to expand its computing capabilities and compete with other major AI developers. OpenAI is reportedly in the final stages of putting together its latest funding round. However, investor interest has been less robust than in some of its previous fundraising exercises, the Financial Times reported.
