Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has rejected the argument that cybersecurity breaches may be an unavoidable consequence of artificial intelligence (AI) development, calling for stronger safeguards to prevent incidents involving autonomous AI agents. Speaking to Fortune in an interview in London, Huang said technology companies should not treat cybersecurity incidents as an acceptable cost of advancing AI. He stressed that every possible measure should be taken to prevent such breaches. His position differs from that of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who has suggested that society may need to tolerate certain risks, including cyberattacks, scams and misuse, to realise the wider benefits of AI. Earlier this month, Altman told Vanity Fair that the technology could deliver substantially more benefits than harm, even as its adoption brings negative consequences.
