Warp Sciences spent six months building what it says can shrink the slowest, costliest phase of drug development. It's doing that with Kevin Weil, fresh off OpenAI's science division, at the helm. Warp Sciences came out of stealth on October 22 with $215 million in funding, according to a report from Bloomberg. Lightspeed Venture Partners led the round, joined by IVP, Premji Invest and Lux Capital. The money values the company at $865 million before it has shipped a public product. That tells you something about how much investors still want a piece of whoever worked closest to OpenAI's model-building core. Weil knows that core well. He spent nearly two years at OpenAI.
