1Password for Agents lets personal AI agents log in without ever seeing the password

Identity security company 1Password today launched 1Password for Agents, its new sign-in platform for personal artificial intelligence agents. 1Password for Agents is aimed at a habit that took hold once agents started paying bills and planning vacations for people. Most of those jobs mean getting into an account. The easy route has been to paste the password into the agent’s chat window, which leaves a copy saved somewhere outside the owner’s control. Aashish Tripathi, chief product officer at 1Password, said agents are “starting to do real work on our behalf.” In his view, an agent asked to do one task has no reason to walk away with permanent access to the whole account. Under the new setup, the password never travels to the agent at all.
