The US artificial intelligence company behind the Claude chatbot has opened an office in Singapore, its fifth in Asia Pacific, extending a regional build-out that last month reached a data centre lease in Queensland. San Francisco-based Anthropic announced the opening on Wednesday along with a memorandum of understanding with Singapore’s Ministry of Digital Development and Information. Kai Fong Chng, the ministry’s permanent secretary, and Anthropic co-founder Ben Mann signed the agreement, which covers AI safety, model evaluation and adoption across the public and private sectors, on the sidelines of Singapore International Cyber Week. “We’re committed to Singapore for the long term,” said Dale Finlay, Anthropic’s general manager for ASEAN, who will lead the company’s Singapore operations.
