Getting a new medicine to patients can take more than a decade. OpenAI wants to tackle some of the work behind that lengthy process, using AI agents to help pharmaceutical teams manage drug development programs. The company has acquired Orchestra Bio, a platform that helps drugmakers coordinate development work. Its team and technology will join Rosalind, OpenAI’s initiative for life sciences research. Developing a medicine in the United States typically takes 10 to 15 years, from identifying a promising biological target to securing regulatory approval. Scientific research is only part of the challenge. Even promising discoveries can face delays when development teams struggle to keep complex projects on track. Connecting research with executionOpenAI’s Rosalind initiative helps scientists investigate questions in biology and chemistry.
