The obvious reading is that Thursday’s drop priced Broadcom’s exposure to OpenAI and Anthropic at once. It did not. The drop was about OpenAI. Broadcom, Nasdaq ticker AVGO, closed at $360.14 on Thursday 8 October 2026, down 4.35 percent from Wednesday’s $376.51 close in the Nasdaq series saved for this piece. OpenAI’s annualized revenue was put at about $50 billion that session, against a widely reported $68 billion figure that included partners’ gross revenue for comparison with Anthropic. Friday 9 October, the last official US cash close, finished at $361.54, up 0.39 percent, or $1.40. Anthropic’s loan of up to $42 billion was reported on 1 October. From that session’s $343.64 close to Wednesday’s $376.51, AVGO rose 9.57 percent.
